The Small Second Blue Orbit is a refined expression of mechanical artistry, combining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design. Encased in a slim 40mm stainless steel case, it features a fully hand-guillochéd dial in deep blue, creating a dynamic play of light and texture. The signature small seconds at 9 o’clock adds rhythm to the layout, while the multi-level dial construction offers depth and dimensionality. Powered by the Chronoswiss Manufacture Caliber C.6000, this timepiece embodies the essence of Modern Mechanical - focused, elegant, and engineered for daily wear. Crafted in Lucerne, the Blue Orbit is a testament to precision, patience, and the enduring beauty of hand-finished detail.
The azurage finish is a traditional decorative technique that brings texture to life through concentric, circular patterns - often applied to sub-dials. The result is a surface that appears to move with light, creating an illusion of rippling waves that shift as the watch is tilted. This intricate pattern isn’t just aesthetic - it gives the dial a sense of rhythm and depth, perfectly complementing the modern mechanical timepiece of the Atelier Lucerne.
Guilloché is a traditional technique, which engraves detailed, interwoven lines on surfaces, creating unique light patterns. Chronoswiss excels in this art, producing dials with precise, radiating designs using two main guilloché machines: the straight-line and rose engine. Despite the absence of manuals for over two centuries, Master-Guillocheurs have maintained their expertise through a deep understanding of these machines. Creating one of those complex dials takes several hours. Today, Chronoswiss's guilloché dials stand as both a tribute to and a celebration of this enduring craft, showcasing its timeless appeal with a modern twist.
The vision behind the Small Second family was to create a timepiece that embraces mechanical purity while keeping the bold spirit of Chronoswiss. We set out to design a watch that is everyday-wearable, yet rich in depth, detail, and craftsmanship. We focused on a more classic display of time, while preserving our signature three-dimensional dial architecture. The result is a watch that feels refined, reduced, and purpose-driven - Modern Mechanical in its most essential form. It's not about doing less; it's about doing what matters - and doing it exceptionally well.
Family owned for more than 40 years, Chronoswiss combines traditional watchmaking with modern design, innovative materials, and exquisite craftsmanship. Since the foundation in 1983 we have been reinterpreting Swiss watch tradition to create timepieces with a strong character. We break classic conventions with innovation while always maintaining a connection to history. Each model is a tribute to the 21st century, crafted in Lucerne.
